Keyboards

Keyboards are the input device that is used to enter text and commands on a computer. A keyboard usually consists of a number pad, arrow keys, function buttons (F1-F12), and various other functions depending on the make and model. The most common type of keyboard is called an “101” or “QWERTY” because it has 12 rows with 20 characters each for a total of 240 different keys. This kind of design was created in 1868 by Christopher Sholes who had to deal with the mechanical challenges of fitting all those characters onto one piece of wood!
